Três fotografias de domínio público do Arquivo Nacional foram viradas, alinhadas e recentradas nesta estação. Na primeira, o registro descreve o Congresso Nacional em construção, em 1959, visto do Supremo Tribunal Federal: a imagem cívica antes de ser ícone.
As outras duas ficam fora desse enquadramento. Uma rua da Cidade Livre / Núcleo Bandeirante, com caminhões, comércio e um sobrado de madeira. E uma venda, em 1959, com balança sobre o balcão, linguiças penduradas e fregueses de pé.
Cada verso diz o que o registro estabelece — acervo, notação, data ou a ausência dela, local, direitos — e também o que não estabelece: ninguém está identificado, e nenhuma dessas fotografias foi feita pelas pessoas que aparecem nelas.
Reunir as três e mover o centro entre elas não é uma afirmação do arquivo; é a interpretação desta estação, de kongCast. Quando o centro se desloca do eixo monumental para a rua e para o balcão, a autoria da cidade deixa de parecer singular. Uma cidade já estava sendo vivida ao redor e além do que as vistas monumentais enquadram.
Three public-domain photographs from the Arquivo Nacional are turned, aligned and re-centred in this station. In the first, the record describes the National Congress under construction in 1959, seen from the Supreme Federal Court: the civic image before it became an icon.
The other two sit outside that frame. A street in Cidade Livre / Núcleo Bandeirante, with trucks, trade and a timber building. And a grocery, 1959, with a scale on the counter, sausages hung above and customers standing.
Each reverse states what the record establishes — collection, accession, date or the absence of one, place, rights — and also what it does not: no one is identified, and none of these photographs was made by the people shown in them.
Bringing the three together and moving the centre between them is not the archive’s claim; it is this station’s interpretation, by kongCast. When the centre shifts from the monumental axis to the street and to the counter, the city’s authorship stops looking singular. A city was already being lived around and beyond what monumental views frame.
