Rooted in Stoicism (Marcus Aurelius, Epictetus, ~2nd c. AD), then named and crystallised by Nietzsche in The Gay Science, 1882. 斯多葛派先活出来，尼采给它起了名字。不知道谁更认真。

When something goes wrong today, pause before the impulse to fix or escape — and ask: what if I chose this? Not forever. Just for this breath. 今天试了一次。停了一下，没有立刻逃。不知道算不算。
