This is a railway platform in the mountains of Yamaguchi — not a subway stop — reachable only by a train that already knows it's coming back.
The Station That Goes Nowhere
A kongCast reading of the station, not its official name — see below.
Iwakuni, Japan · Nishikigawa Seiryū Line
The Nishikigawa Seiryū Line is a small railway that follows the Nishiki River through the mountains of Iwakuni, in Yamaguchi Prefecture — 32.7 kilometers of track, opened on 25 July 1987 by the company that still runs it today, Nishikigawa Railway.
On 19 March 2019, the line gained a station it had not had before. It was built between two existing stops, 南桑 (Naguwa) and 根笠 (Nekasa) — the first new station added to the line in 26 years, according to Railfan Japan.2019 年 3 月 19 日,這條路線多了一座前所未有的車站。
There is no road to this platform, and no path away from it on foot. There is only the train — and the certainty that it will come back for you.
According to Nishikigawa Railway's own service page, regular trains pass the site without stopping. Only the special sightseeing service, the 清流みはらし列車, stops here — and only long enough for passengers to step onto the platform, look down at the clear water of the gorge, and climb back aboard the same train.

That is its name, in Japanese, on the operator's own signage and timetables. "The Station That Goes Nowhere" is not an official title — it's how kongCast has chosen to read it: a small railway stop built for a view, not a destination.

After ten or fifteen minutes, the doors close again. The same train that brought its passengers to the gorge carries them onward — back toward 南桑, back toward the rest of the line — because it was always the only way, in either direction.
